Write the number of any problem that you need help with on the board, even if it has already been written.
Learning Goal: To use Newton's Laws of motion to predict the behavior of objects' motion.
Today: Newton’s Second Law Investigation
Given: timing devices (photogates, motion detectors), masses, dynamics cart and track, pulley (it will look something like this).
Find: Determine the acceleration of a dynamics cart in two scenarios:
(1) the total mass of the system is kept constant while the net force varies
(2) the net force is kept constant while the total mass of the system varies.
Graph the results to determine any relationship between the variables.
We will split lab groups in half, half assigned to each lab, display data and conclusions via whiteboards.
What we learned last week:
- Small masses!

- Have you successfully completed the Shoot the Hoop practicum challenge? If not, do so ASAP! You can come in during GPS and/or after school. If you have, complete and submit the work that is required. You may work with your partner to submit it together. Get a GPS pass if you need to come in and work together.
- Syllabus and Safety Contract. Submit Google Form - students, parents.
