You will be responsible for completing your other work outside of class. Check off anything that you have with me at any time this week.
You are also welcome to come in during GPS and/or after school for anything this week.
Horsepower Challenge
Given: meterstick, stopwatch, stairwell
Find: Your power requirement for climbing the stairs, both running and walking. There will be a competition to see who can produce the greatest horsepower!
You are done when you present your data and sample calculations on a board.
Humpty Dumpty
Given: Spring, Ring Stand, clamps and rods, Meter sticks/rulers, mass hook and masses, Egg (will be provided), Clamp type clothespins or tape (to mark release heights), Clay (to hold egg)
Find: The height from which a mass on a spring must be released in order to just touch the egg without breaking it. Cracking is acceptable, but leakage = fail.
You are not allowed to let any masses fall on the spring until your actual trial. Before you will be given your trial mass, you must your work for determining the spring constant, including any graphs. Before your actual trial, you must show the work behind your prediction, including LOL charts.
