Continue working on lab & recording notes in your physics notebook. You should be able to recognize the v-t graph produced by each type of motion.
Learning Goal: How to measure and describe motion using graphs.
Today: Velocity-Time Graphs
Given: Motion detector, cars (optional), low friction cars & tracks (optional), boards for ramps (optional)
Find: How different types of motion are shown are on a velocity-time graph by walking in front of a motion detector. Work to contrast the shape and slope of the velocity‐time graphs for the following types of motion:
- moving in the + direction versus moving in the ‐ direction
- moving fast versus moving slow
- a constant speed motion versus a gradually changing speed
- a speeding up motion versus a slowing down motion
- combinations of the above
Assignment:
- Due Tues 10/3: pp. 13-14 of Graphing practice packet.
- Finish any incomplete work from the packet!
