- Find your lab group for today.
- Have your notes out to get checked off.
Learning Goal: I can
- ...describe and calculate the amount of work done to an object.
- ...determine the relationship between power and work.
- ...define work in terms of energy.
- ...distinguish among the different forms of mechanical energy.
- ...define and describe the kinetic energy of an object.
Today: What the hill?!
Given: marble, rulers, 3 dominoes, meter tape, small paper/card
Find: What effect does the height of an incline have upon the distance which a rolling marble drives a paper plow along a level table?
On Your Board: Graph your results. Write a brief summary describing how your data explains the connection between potential energy and work.
Assignment:
- Due Wed. 3/7: Take Cornell or other organized format notes FOR UNDERSTANDING. Remember that good notes include diagrams, text language, sample equations, etc. Notes should come from:
- APlusPhysics: Conservation of Energy (you are not responsible for the spring stuff, but future AP might want to take a look.)
- PhysicsClassroom: Internal/External Forces, Analysis of Situations
- Conceptual Physics text, Ch. 8: Sections 8.6
