Learning Goal: To apply conservation of energy concepts to roller coasters.
Today: Find your roller coaster group, get boards and markers. On the boards, show the following.
- Create energy bar charts corresponding to 4 points on the coaster: the start, the top of each loop, and the finish.
- Determine the speed of the marble at the top of the two loops and the final speed, using CoE principles. Show your GUESSework.
- Show your GUESSework for finding the final speed that you measured directly yesterday.
- Find the work done on the marble by friction. (Hint: review what work does). Show your GUESSework.
