Did you remember your assignment that's due tomorrow?
Finish the lab, including a graph drawn to scale on graph paper.
Learning Goal: To use Newton's Laws of motion to predict the behavior of objects' motion.
Today:
- Continue N2L Lab
- Half of you will be doing this one. (Const F, changing m)
- Half of you will be doing this one. (Const. m, changing F)
- Our equipment will not be exactly the same, so you will have to improvise some of it.
- I recommend using Hudl Technique to use for video timing. See me if you need an account.
- Your board should include:
- data, neatly arranged in a table
- graph, drawn to scale on graph paper
- conclusion (what did this lab tell you about the relationship between either F-a or m-a)
- data, neatly arranged in a table
- Smaller masses are better
- Good idea to have someone graph as you go - easier to spot outliers or other issues.
Assignment:
- Due Wed. 11/8: Watch the APlusPhysics video about Newton’s 2nd Law (N2L) for understanding. Take Cornell or other organized format notes.
- PhysicsClassroom.com: Lesson 2 & 3
- APlusPhysics.com: FBDs and N2L
- Hewitt Drew It: Newton’s Laws (#17,18.19)
- PBS Crash Course: Newton’s Laws (emphasis on 2nd)
- Conceptual Physics textbook, Ch. 5
- Are you planning on retaking the summative? Have you set up a meeting with me yet?
