Assignment: Ch. 2 Assignment Sheet
- Due Tues. 9/4: Practice 2.3
- Due Wed. 10/3: Sign up for SSS, Nov. 3, 8 AM-noon @ Bell. West
Learning Goal: To be successful in this unit, you should be able to...
- ...accurately describe the motion of an object moving at constant velocity and represent it both graphically and algebraically.
- ...accurately describe the motion of an object moving at constant acceleration and represent it both graphically and algebraically.
- ...accurately present and interpret information from motion graphs.
- ...accurately describe the characteristics of the motion of a projectile launched at an angle.
Today: Collision Investigation Practicum (For formative grade! Listed as NHI until it is completed successfully.)
Given: Battery-operated cars, stopwatch, metersticks, camera/phone for video analysis (or motion detector)
Find: Successfully predict where two battery-powered cars will collide if they are released from opposite ends of the lab table at different times and/or different speeds (1 battery vs. 2).
BEFORE THE COLLISION: On a board, show multiple representations of your investigation that support your prediction (verbal descriptions, motion diagrams, graphical analyses, and equations).
You will need to coordinate/collaborate with other groups for data. On a board, list each car and it's measured speed. (Think Accuracy, Precision, Repeatability. Your grade will depend on it!)
