- ...understand the relationship between work and energy, and use it to predict the motion of objects.
- ...understand how the different modes of energy storage are transformed within a system and transferred between a system and the environment.

Today:
Snowpocalypsemaggedonocaust - See (above), I can have fun on a Snow Day too! But, alas, Physics doesn't take the day off. A few items to think about when you take a break from Netflixxing, napping, sledding, etc.
- The Spring Is the Thing Part I: did you figure out how to find the spring constant? I was giving hints as I walked around the room. It has something to do with a graph. Figure it out, but you do NOT have to write a formal lab writeup just yet. Keep that data for use on Part II. More on that later.
- You are still responsible for the items and due dates on the Assignment Sheet you received for this unit. You are responsible for assignments up through tomorrow. MasteringPhysics assignments been activated. This also includes the quiz that will be moved to Friday, covering material through Practice 6.5. You are responsible for the material that should have been covered by then. Be ready.
- Speaking of the material - as of 2:00 PM on Wednesday, I have not received any questions or feedback from students regarding any problems they were having on the assignments so far. I have checked email, Twitter and this form that I emailed to parents and students two days ago. Hopefully this means that everyone has completed the assignment and knows exactly what they are doing! I will check a couple more times before 4:00 PM. After that, you are on your own, or...
- ...come to Physicspalooza IX tomorrow (Thursday) in H13 from 3:30-4:30! This would be a great chance to clear up any remaining confusion or questions you have, and make up for the lost time this week!
- A big thank you to the parent, a college instructor, who emailed this: "You're simulating what students should expect in College. Many take the same approach, especially with online classes. Weather doesn't affect due dates and questions can be asked and answered online." While that was not my intent, it is a good reminder of the responsibilities you will all have in college. You will not see your instructors on a daily basis, and you will not get repeated reminders to stay the course. Might as well practice now!
- Final note to parents who may be reading this: Please make plans to come to Parent Teacher Conferences next week on Wed and Thurs! Please bring your student, if at all possible. Conferences are much more productive when they are a part of the conversation as well! I look forward to seeing you all there.
