Compare your group's data from yesterday's lab with that of other groups, those who tested the same variable and those who tested other variables. Which tested factors affected the period of the spring, and in what way? How do you know? Be prepared to defend your answer when called upon.
Learning Goals: I can...
- ...explain how waves are an energy transport phenomena.
- ...explain and predict how the relative velocities of the source of a wave and of the observer affect the frequency of the observed wave.
- ...explain and predict how waves from more than one source interfere to make waves of smaller or larger amplitude, depending on the location where the waves meet.
- ...explain and predict how wave boundary behavior can be used to derive and apply relationships for calculating the characteristic frequencies for standing waves in strings, open pipes, and closed pipes.
Today:
- Discuss results from the lab.
- ConcepTest Qs
Assignment:
- If you did not take the test Monday, make arrangements ASAP.
- AP Physics 1 Test Prep Course: If you choose to do it, the deadline is April 23, but register ASAP - space is limited. See me if questions.
- PHYSICSPALOOZA: Wed. after school, 3:30-4:30
- Due Wed. 4/11: Practice 11.1 and

- What observations can you make about the motion of these three objects? In what ways are they similar and in what ways are they different?
- Next, observe only the side-to-side motion. That is, ignore the vertical motion of the pendulum and the front-to-back motion of the circular motion. Describe the similarities of this side-to-side motion.

- Due Fri. 4/13: Practice 11.2 (MasteringPhysics, you will probably need a desktop for some of the Qs)
- Due Mon. 4/16: Practice 11.3 (Q assignments)
- Friday, 5/4: Summative Test - SHM/Waves/Sound/Electrical
