As many parents know, and most of my students should know by now, I have a passion for helping my students graduate with a 2- or 4- year college degree with minimal debt. I have shared a lot of data and articles with my students that show how doing so can lead to much better life outcomes than not. With that in mind, and knowing that most of my students are juniors, here is a dump of recent hot info targeted specifically at Bell East juniors:
Have a great week!
Mr. Mason
- Monday, I shared this article from EducationQuest about college planning for juniors. If you have a junior (or even younger), please take a moment to read it and discuss with your student. (By the way, EducationQuest is a great, Nebraska-based resource for college planning information for any age high school student).
- One of the suggestions discussed in the article is attending college fairs. Coincidentally, there is one coming up right here in Omaha, at UNO, on April 9th. Click here to learn more about this great opportunity to talk to colleges and universities from around the country, all in one day!
- Another topic discussed in the article is preparing for the ACT (or SAT). This is something I talk about regularly: making your grades and test scores the best-paying part-time job you can have in high school. Every increase in GPA, or additional point on the ACT, can lead to thousands of dollars in the form of college scholarships! Bellevue East will be providing FREE ACT Prep next week. Click here to learn more and encourage your student to sign up by THIS FRIDAY.
Have a great week!
Mr. Mason
